If you know anything about me you know that I have a soft spot in my heart for kids. From tutoring, to kids’ church, to my time with Big Brothers Big Sisters, and more— it’s always been an enthusiastic “yes” to taking care of the next generations.
What you may not know (if you haven’t read any of my blogs yet) is I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in March 2023. It suuuucks. While I appreciate the well wishes and I would like you to “keep that same energy” and help me take care of a young man I used to mentor. He was diagnosed around the same time I was but with a different cancer— nasopharyngeal. There’s so much to be said for context and we have different contexts for cancer.
While I’m an adult with a job and decent healthcare he’s just a kid who was trying to figure out what to do with life. (I don’t know what to do either but you know what I mean.) In any case… I’m inviting you to help me by helping him. Here you’ll find links to his GFM to help him out; to my blog to read what I’ve written; and to my Give in Kind page that my friends made me set up where I’m documenting my cancer experience in more detail.
Thanks!
